Okay, so today i had to go down to the ghetto of downtown new orleans to take photos for my thesis site...it was pretty cool that so many people were out and about during the day, but the only problem was that the people out and about were homeless and cracked out.

one of my possible sites is at n. claiborne and canal--the difficulty that i could see with this site is that it has to deal directly with the touristy aspects farther down canal street towards the french quarter...but the area could be fraught(?) with potential because of it being located at the fringes of both downtown and the tourist areas of the city...it's a double edged sword.

my other site is a little farther down--and DEFINITELY in the middle of the projects--is at orleans & n. claiborne. i had actually been there during the zulu parade at mardi gras, but it was much different then than what i found it to be today.
--at the time it was this giant block party under the bridge, where people were selling food, drinks, crafts, and everyone was dressed up in costume...hence mardi gras, but still, it felt alot friendlier then with all of the families from the neighborhoods around the freeways coming out to have a good time. i remember being surprised by seeing all of the kids around but, it made me comfortable---even as sick as i was at the time!!
well i took 4 rolls of film[my digital camera is currently out of commission and needs to be fixed] so i am looking forward to getting the prints back to see what i find from the shots i took. i think you can almost find more in pictures after you take them than from the moment you push the button and actually take a photograph...sometimes. i think though next time i will take someone with me...and i will dubb them my ghetto buddy...so that i don't get shot--i still need to get more photos and other such documentation for this thesis shit.
